ABOUT THE SACRED JOURNEY

What is the Sacred Journey?
It is a sacred ritual that the ancient inhabitants of the region performed hundreds of years ago, paddling their canoes towards Cozumel to worship the goddess Ixchel. The Sacred Journey recreates this part of the history of the native culture in the region, through its rituals, dances and ceremonies. Likewise, it resumes the navigation routes of ancient pilgrims and merchants.
What will be the route of the oarsmen and women this year?
In the 15th Edition of the Sacred Journey, the departure will be at Xcaret Park, where the oarsmen and women will embark to paddle to Chankanaab in Cozumel, and return the next day to Xcaret.
On what days does the Sacred Journey take place this year?
The Sacred Journey will be on May, Friday 19th and Saturday 20th.

How can I enter Xcaret to say farewell to the oarsmen and women on May 19th?
Free admission is only with a ticket, and you must present it at the park ticket offices, between 4:00 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. It's only park admission access only.
Where can I get admission tickets for May 19th?
The tickets for the fareweel to oarsmen and women on May 19th will be available at the main radio stations, local newspapers, and Xcaret social media profiles, through contests or trivia related to the event. Remember to follow these media to get your tickets.
At what time you recommend getting to Xcaret to say farewell to the oarsmen and women on May 19th?
To say farewell the oarsmen and women on May 19th, we recommend you to arrive to the park between 4:00 a.m. to 5:30 a.m. It’s better to get earlier.
Once the oarsmen and women have left for Cozumel, can I enjoy Xcaret Park for the rest of the day?

If your entrance was before 6:00 a.M., You might stay to enjoy Xcaret Park during its regular operating hours.

If you arrive after the departure, you must buy your admission ticket at a regular price. If you are from Quintana Roo, you can get a discount admission either online or at the ticket booths by presenting a valid official identification (INE, passport, or FM2 or FM3) that proves your residence in the state of Quintana Roo.
If I don't have any ticket, can I attend the event?
Yes, you only have to purchase your park's admission at the regular price. If you live in Quintana Roo, you can get your admission at a special price directly on the park's ticket booths by presenting an official I.D. (INE, passport, FM2 or FM3) as proof of residence in the state. You can also purchase at our official website, sales points, and ticket booths.
If I am from another Mexican state or foreigner, how can I attend the event?
By purchasing online or at the park's ticket booths, you can attend the Sacred Journey. Remember to be at Xcaret Park on the day of the event from 4:00 a.m.
If I have a valid Soy Xcaret membership, can I attend the event?
Yes, you will have to book previously for the event at our Customer Center and present it along with your membership and official I.D. (INE, passport, FM2 or FM3) on the day of the event.

ABOUT THE EVENTS IN COZUMEL

Where and when will the event be on Cozumel Island?
On May 19th, there will be a welcome in the Chankanaab park. On May 20th, the oarsmen and women will depart from Chankanaab Park.
At what times and on what days will these events take place?
On May 19th, the oarsmen and women will be welcomed at 1:00 p.m. approximately. On May 20th at 8:30 a.m. the farewell will take place.
At what time can I arrive at Chankanaab Park for these events?
Chankanaab doors will open one hour before the events before the welcome event on May 19th, and the farewell ceremony the following morning on May 20th.
Where can I get tickets for the Sacred Journey in Chankanaab for the events on May 19th and 20th?
You can request the bracelets at the Fundación de Parques y Museos de la Isla de Cozumel, located at Av. Pedro Joaquín Coldwell #70 Col. Centro. Cozumel, Quintana Roo, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday to Friday. You must present your credential from the foundation or a valid official identification that proves that you are from Cozumel. In the case of minors, it will be necessary to present a school credential or birth certificate. Tickets are provided free of charge and are limited to two per person. You can also purchase them through some media on the island.
How can Quintana Roo residents attend the daytime events at Chankanaab on May 19th and 20th?
You can request your free bracelet at the Fundación de Parques y Museos de Cozumel, presenting a valid official identification (IFE, Passport, FM2 or FM3) that proves your residence in the state of Quintana Roo.

ABOUT THE OARSMEN AND WOMEN ARRIVAL TO XCARET

When will the final event take place at Xcaret?
The Sacred Journey will end on May 20th with the arrival of the oarsmen and women at Xcaret, around 1:00 p.m.
How and at what time can I enter Xcaret to receive the oarsmen and women?
To receive the oarsmen and women at Xcaret, you must arrive before 12:30 p.m. and show your valid official I.D. (INE, FM3, FM2 or passport) along with your admission ticket, and pay the recovery fee.
If i don't have a ticket, can I attend the oarsmen and women welcome event?
Yes, to attend the welcome ceremony on May 20th, you will only have to buy your park’s admission at a regular price. If you are from Quintana Roo, you can purchase your ticket with a special discount by presenting a valid official I.D. (INE, FM3, passport) that proves your residence in the state of Quintana Roo. You can purchase online, at the park ticket booths or through the official sales points.
When and at what time will the oarsmen and women arrive at Xcaret?
Oarsmen and women's arrival is expected around 1:00 p.m. on May 20th at Xcaret.

Do i have to present any I.D. to collect the tickets?
Yes, you must present your INE, FM3, passport or any type of official I.D. from Quintana Roo. For minors, it will be necessary to present a valid school id with photo or birth certificate.
If my relative is an oarsmen or women and I want to go to Cozumel to receive him or her on May 20th, where can I get the tickets?
If you are related to an oarsmen or women or someone in the cast, ask them to check with their coordinators about the logistics of obtaining tickets for both days.
